NPCC History

Year Event
1959 Formation of Police Cadets Corps Unit at Bartley Secondary Schools as a Pilot Scheme.
1961 Police cadet Corps Ordinance was enacted. 2 more units were formed at Siglap Secondary School and Serangoon Garden Government High School.
1964 Recruitment of girls into the the Police Cadet Corps.
1968 Introduction of formation signs in all units.
1969 Police Cadet Corps was renamed the National Cadet Corps [Police] upon integration with the Army, Sea and Air Cadet Corps.
1970 Formation of the Cadet Inspectors' Open Unit.
1971 NCC [Police] was renamed National Police Cadet Corps.
1972 Change of NPCC's "grey and Khaki" uniform to the present "blue" in line with the Police Force.
1973 Introduction of overseas Education Tour for cadets
1974 NPCC Council was established by the Act of Parliament.
1976 Recruitment of girls members to the NPCC Band.
1978 Introduction of overseas Educational Tour for Officers.
1979 Introduction of the NPCC Service and Long Service Medals for Officers.
1980 Formation of NPCC proficiency Badges.
1982 Formation of NPCC Unit in the National University of Singapore.
1983 Introduction of the NPCC pledge.
1984 Introduction of the NPCC song.
1987 Inclusion of National Education in the training program. Official opening of Pulau Ubin campsite.
1991 Formation of NPCC Unit in the Nanyang Technological University of Singapore.
1993 Inauguration of NPCC Officer's Day.
1996 Launch of NPCC Mission Statement and Beliefs.
1997 Introduction of the SPF-NPCC Badges of outstanding cadets.
1998 Launch of Singapore Polytechnic NPCC Unit.
1999 Inauguration of 10th NPCC Council & Launch of NPCC 40th Anniversary Logo.
2000 Inauguration of the NPCC Alumni. Implementation of new Unit Overall Proficiency Award (UOPA) Competition.
2001 New designations in NPCC HQ approved by NPCC Council. Incorporation of TRACKS into CD-ROM.
2002 NPCC (Sea) Units set up in Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) and Springfield Secondary School. Launch of the new NPCC Ceremonial Flag during the 43rd NPCC Day Parade.

2002 New NPCC Ceremonial Flag launched during 43rd NPCC Day Parade.
2004 NPCC partnered People's Association Youth Movement and the National Council against Drug Abuse to organise the PAYM-NCADA Anti-Drug Abuse Campaign to spread anti-drug abuse message.
2004 DSP Geraldine Tan took over as Commandant, NPCC.
2005 NPCC Council approved the new NPCC Training Framework, “New Training Framework for 2006 and Beyond, A Great Leap Forward, A New NPCC” .
2006 Hwa Chong Institution and New Town Secondary School became the first 2 NPCC units to receive the Unit Excellence Award for having achieved 10 consecutive gold awards.
2007 6As learning path introduced, namely Aware, Acquire, Actuate, Aspire, Achieve and Aim.
2008 SUPT Rosalind Khoo took over as Commandant, NPCC
